| CONGRATULATIONS to Arlyne Farris |
Arlyne Farris received her degree from The Ohio State University in
journalism. This Solon, Ohio native was a staff writer for OSU’s
student newspaper, The Lantern, and has been published in
Purpose Magazine, where she also completed an internship. In
addition, Arlyne interned with WOIO Actions News and SBC
Communications. Aside from writing, she was a member of OSU’s
African American Voices gospel choir and worked at the Ohio Union
as an Information Center Specialist. Arlyne is also an honoree of the
National Dean’s List. She was active with the South Area Black
Student Association and belongs to Mt. Zion of Oakwood Village.
Arlyne also volunteered for Columbus Public Schools, tutoring
students in English and social studies.
Prior to graduation, Arlyne began working for The Ohio General
Assembly through the Ohio Legislative Commission. She is assigned
to work with Senator Tom Roberts and in the Communications
Department of the Democratic caucus of the Ohio Senate. Roberts
represents Dayton, Miami county and parts of Darke county.
Throughout her assignment, Arlyne will engage in research,
constituent services, writing speeches and news releases, drafting
legislation, performing legal research, monitoring sessions of the
General Assembly, and attending committee hearings. For her
communications assignments, Arlyne will attend press conferences,
cover speeches and write monthly newsletters for 11 senators in the
Democratic caucus.
