The Mt. Zion Church of Oakwood Village
recently honored its Pastor, the Rev. Dr.
Larry L. Macon, Sr. for twenty-six years of
faithful service. During his time at Mt. Zion,
Pastor Macon and First Lady Marilyn
Macon have been the catalyst for
monumental changes at Mt. Zion.
From the building of a new facility on
Booker Avenue next to what is now the
Fellowship Hall, Pastor and Sister Macon
saw the new church fill to and then exceed
capacity.
The ever growing congregation at Mt. Zion
endured several years of strained-to-
capacity seating, overflowing parking lots
and unbelievable traffic jams. Meanwhile
the shepherds of Mt. Zion dreamed,
planned, and brought to fruition the
current Mt. Zion Church at One Mt. Zion
Circle off Broadway Avenue.
Without missing a beat, the visionary
Pastor continues to push toward the
completion of a larger and more
comprehensive facility that includes a Fine
Arts Center that will comfortably meet the
spiritual and practical needs of a
continually growing church body, along
with an ever-changing community. Pastor
Macon’s vision includes “moving God into
the classroom” and one manifestation of
that vision is assuming the responsibility
for NCCA (Christian Academy). NCCA is
one of many Christian outreach ministries
established under the leadership of Pastor
Macon.
Our continued Prayers and Best Wishes to
the Macon Family.
