Tuskegee Airman
Roy Richardson
Honored at Mt. Zion

Ceremony Follows Presidential &
Congressional Awards Ceremony

Those who know Roy Richardson realize that being recognized by friends and fellow
congregation members at Mt. Zion of Oakwood Village was just as important to him
as the long overdue Washington, DC ceremony.  Richardson and fellow Tuskegee
Airmen recently accepted the Congressional Gold Medal from President Bush and
members of Congress for exemplary service during World War II.  During a recent
conversation with Richardson, the humble role model, mentor and community
volunteer  said this to me of his heroic service; ”I was just doing my job.”
