"Where there is no vision, the people perish" - Proverbs 29:18
"Blessings you have not room enough to receive . . ."
In retrospect, my decision to print all the news I had in the May-June issue
(resulting in twelve pages) seems absolutely brilliant.  The credit has little to
do with my IQ (you probably figured that), but thanks to the “little voice.”  The
little voice said,
“Henry, don’t try saving any of the good stuff for the next
issue, because then you won’t have room in that issue either.”
 Funny thing
about little voices, they often know exactly what they are whispering.

So what could happen as thoughts turn to Spring and Summer, and people
begin thinking about, planning for, and implementing vacation plans?  As it
turns out, plenty can happen, and it has.  This issue has as much variety as
one could expect, and thankfully some input from my sister Jean Ford-
Lawrence, who is the smart one in the family.  If you are expecting me to
follow-up with a smart remark, it is not forthcoming.  As you read her
contribution on pages four and five, you will understand my honesty.  Her
insightful comments and her ability to get close to Michelle Obama gives this
issue an unusual flavor.  As if that were not enough, she and her husband
Emmanuel were able to get into one of the NBA Playoff Games between the
Los Angeles Lakers and Boston Celtics.  Not only is she the smart one in the
family, but obviously also the one with the money.  Attending the game was a
treat unto itself, but attending with the father of Boston Celtics Star James
Posey, that had to be “the bomb.”  Anyway, Jean’s reflective comments about
her experiences are in this issue, and there is so much more.

Recognizing student achievement, attending induction ceremonies into a
Scholars Program, listening to the challenging message shared by Cleveland
NAACP Executive Director Stanley Miller, all these resulted in memorable
moments.  As I catch my breath, I now have a cousin and his wife whom I can
address as “Dr. and Dr. Ford.  It practically gives me chills to see this fine
young and humble couple overcoming obstacles and achieving greatness
together, and while raising three children!

Others continue to excel including Terri Lynn Taylor, who does not have
enough hands to do everything she is chosen to do; Myra Snipes, Akron,
Ohio EEO Officer; and Cecil Adam Ford, moving up the ranks while
protecting our nation in a faraway land.

I would be remiss if I did not offer a Big Thank You to Willie Johnson, a friend
and mentor who continually and unselfishly contributes his expertise to
VISIONS readers.  Willie is so supportive of my vision, that he offered
FREE,
NO OBLIGATION
personal consultations to VISIONS readers.  If you haven’t
taken advantage of his offer, is it because your challenges are not that great
after all?

Also in this issue I acknowledge my personal blessings as audiences
continue at an accelerated pace to hear, read, and respond to the message
of
The Power of Association.  My hope is that you feel as confident about the
challenges and as grateful for the blessings as I do.  Thank you for your
continued support!
